Massage Therapy has become an important part of health and wellness regimes and increasing body of research proves its benefits in treatment of various health conditions. It is commonly used as a part of rehabilitation programmes and has been shown effective in decreasing pain and enhancing recovery from injury or intense physical activity.

Research found that when applied to muscle fibres damaged during exercise massage attenuates production of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6) or NF-kB (transcription factor) and reduces heat shock proteins phosphorylation mitigating cellular stress from myofibre damage. In addition to the anti-inflammatory action massage has also shown to enhance mitochondrial biogenesis.

Some other conditions that may highly benefit from massage therapy techniques include:

·         Low back pain

·         Muscular tension, neck pain and stiffness

·         Muscular recovery and performance

·         Fertility and female cycle regulation

·         Digestive dysfunction, constipation/irregular bowel movements

·         Headaches

·         Fibromyalgia

·         Arthritis

·         Chronic pain management

·         Cardiovascular health

·         Sleep problems

·         Stress and anxiety

·         Decreased mobility in elderly

·         Decreased immune system function

·         Physical and emotional support and general wellness during pregnancy

·         Skin health and conditioning
